About
The Veteran Women Aftercare Initiative was born out of necessity. A growing number of veterans are 'coming home to homelessness' at an alarming rate. Many agencies are incapable of assisting with rent in the face of homelessness prevention. While several military installations have repurposed post/base housing for private leasing, those homes are now far too expensive for disabled veterans receiving 100%. This means that a 100% disabled veteran with a purple heart and wheelchair-bound can't qualify to live on the very military base he or she served on. Yet, they are on the outside looking while civilians that have never served a day are allowed to reside in military housing complexes across the United States.
Veteran Women Aftercare Initiative is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
